Fees
  • chevron_rightCan I pre-pay my monthly fees?
Yes.  There is no limit on how much an owner may pre-pay.
  • chevron_rightHow do I pay my monthly fees?
Owners receive a coupon book each year with 12 coupons and address labels.  Monthly checks can be sent along with a coupon to the address on the label.

Alternatively, owners can set up an automatic payment through their bank.  Oldefield Farms does not have an automatic transfer or deposit functionality, but most banks allow their customers the option of setting up a reoccurring payment sent directly to the Oldefield Farms PO Box Address.

Grills
  • chevron_rightCan I use an outdoor grill?
Outdoor grills that use charcoal or briquettes are not allowed.  Gas and electric grills are permitted but owners are asked to place them away from the home as they tend to damage the siding.

Additionally, grills, lawn furniture, and other large objects must be removed from the lawn to allow the landscaper access to mow.
Landscaping
  • chevron_rightI have a dead tree or overgrown bush in my yard. Who takes care of it?
The Association is responsible for maintaining the property's common areas.  These include most of the trees and shrubs in our yards and around the perimeter of our homes.

Tree and shrub trimming is done in the spring and summer after a full property inspection.  A community-wide newsletter will communicate the timing and provide residents the opportunity to trim their own bushes and shrubs ahead of the landscapers (if they wish).

Dead trees or shrubs should be reported to the hotline (860) 749-4242.  They are always inspected before removal and often are found not to be dead, just in need of trimming or fertilizer.
Mailbox Key
  • chevron_rightHow do I get my mailbox key?
The cluster mailboxes at Oldefield Farms are maintained by the USPS.  If you are a new owner and did not receive a key from the seller, contact your realtor to request that it be forwarded to you.

If you are unable to obtain a key from the seller or need a replacement, contact the local US Post Office directly.  A full-service USPS is located less than 5 minutes from Oldefield Farms at 31 Palomba Drive in Enfield.

For more information, visit the USPS website's FAQ.

Mold Removal
  • chevron_rightHow do I remove the green mold from my deck?
The Association will power-wash the unit's siding, but it is the owner's responsibility to clean the deck.  The deck is partially constructed of first-generation Trex® which should not be power or pressure washed.

Our property offers a lot of shade, particularly in the back, providing ample opportunity for mold growth.  Any environmentally friendly anti-bacterial disinfectant (ie Simple Green) and a scrub brush/mop combo will do.

Waste Management
  • chevron_rightCan I throw my old mattress in the garbage bin?
No.  Oldefield Farms uses Enfield's regular trash collection service which does not include bulk waste.  Bulk items cannot be placed in the general garbage bins.  The trash service will not empty the bins until the bulk items are removed and that comes at a cost to the Association.  Ultimately, that cost is passed down to the owners in the form of higher fees.

Examples of bulk items include but are not limited to:
    - Mattresses
    - Box Springs
    - Appliances
    - Furniture
    - Carpet and Linoleum
    - Anything that does fit into the bin

If you have bulk items that require disposal, there are several services available including one through Enfield's Refuse and Resource Management.
  • chevron_rightWhen are the garbage dumpsters emptied?
Garbage collection is scheduled weekly on Tuesdays.  Occasionally, due to weather or holiday, the collection may be delayed by a day.  If concerned, residents can check the holiday schedule on the Enfield town website.
  • chevron_rightDoes Oldefield Farms offer recycling services?
Oldefield Farms participates in Enfield's Single Stream Recycling Program.  All recyclables are deposited in one of the two green bins found next to the flagpole. Residents do not need to separate recyclables, but they should pay close attention to what is acceptable and not acceptable materials.

No.  Hazardous waste may not be deposited into the standard garbage bins.  We encourage residents to consult the Enfield Public Works website to take advantage of opportunities to dispose of special handling materials. A full list of items that are not to be thrown into the garbage bins is found here.
Winter Policy and Snow
  • chevron_rightWhen can I expect the snow to be removed?
Our snow removal service does not commit to specific timeframes.  Timing is dependent on many factors, including snowfall amounts, ice, and whether the town has cleared the main road into our community.  Additionally, the company that we contract has other accounts, thus there is no set time that our community is cleared.

That said in larger snowstorms, crews tend to be out early and often, sometimes multiple times, clearing the parking lots and the sidewalks.  It is not unusual to hear snowblowers in what might seem like the middle of the night.

When snow is predicted, take the time to move or remove the cars parked in front of the garages. This is particularly important for those buildings where multiple garages are attached to each other. It is extremely difficult to fit a 10-foot plow between parked cars and buildings (or adjacent parked cars) without doing damage to one or the other.
  • chevron_rightWhere can I dispose of my Christmas tree?
Standard trash pick up will not remove Christmas trees left outside.  Feel free to leave them in the woods.
